About the Old Zechhaus
The building at Kirchenplatz 1 is one of the oldest properties in Gumpoldskirchen which was first mentioned in 1549. The “Altes Zechhaus” is preserved in its original architectural style. In former times it was used for storing wines. Later, wine was also served and in 1905 the family Krug took over the ancient building. Since 1970 the family Krug began to run the “Altes Zechhaus” as a wine tavern.

Altes Zechhaus offers traditional Austrian down to earth food. You can enjoy the wine tavern culture and eat traditional dishes. Also seasonal meals, focusing on asparagus, chanterelles or venison, are highlights of the menu. Altes Zechhaus was also rewarded as a TOP wine tavern, which is an award of the best wine taverns in Austria.

Regarding our standards of quality, we put strong emphasis on the best quality. The ingredients come from local producers, like Ham from Thum meat manufactory Vienna, Vulcano ham from manufactory Auersbach, beef from Pöllau, pork from Weinviertel and cheese from the Paznaun valley in Tyrol.
